ok so what happens if you call say 2 pairs on the showdown when in fact you have a house can you correct yourself or can the dealer / other player correct you?

no, you dont have to tell everyone what hand your using. its good to know what hand your using, but when you show your cards its usually obvious who wins. i usually dont tell people what hand i'm using unless i'm asked or questioned. in a casino the dealer would usually pick out the best combination of cards from everyones hand and determines the winner.

No, you are always using the best possible 5 cards so there is no need to point out which five cards.

Edit: At the showdown, the last person to raise or bet (this does not include calling a raise or bet) is the first to show their cards. The players following go clockwise. If you can beat the highest hand shown so far, you must show your cards. If you lose, you have the right to muck your cards.

In the case where nobody raises or bets after the river card is dealt, showing starts left of the button.

Edit again: as I said above, the cards speak for themselves. You don't have to state your hand.

The term for showing who has the best hand is called the showdown, if you have the best hand then you show them but if you dont you can either muck, that means to lay them face down or just show them for the heck of it.

In any form of poker the cards speak, but it helps if you know your best possible hand and can call it yourself. A dealer could misread the high hand, so don't muck your cards until you are sure that you have lost.

i am not sure in what kinda situation you are talking about. if you are at the end of the hand everything is done you only need to show if you think you won. if other person shows first and you lost, you don't have to show. if you show your cards anytime before that it is a fold. unless one person has went all in and has been called by another. if you fold, no you don't have to show your cards.

Absolutely not! You don't even have to show your hand unless you are the one that raised the pot and where called and then you don't even have to if the other person shows theirs first and it beats your hand. You can muck your cards (not show them). If you were trying to bluff, you don't want to give that away.
