does anyone know of a good church in melbourne? i can't seem to find a happy medium between boring and cringe worthy!! the traditional style has me struggling to keep focus on the message and dread going to church. whilst the modern style of church usually irritates me with its attempts to be hip and entertaining and i find them rather patronising and well, just not me.
what i would really like is one that is intellectual and informative. more like a lesson than an attempt to entertain or sell, sell, sell.

Some good Churches I can recommend:
Faith! Christian Church (Dandenong)
Bayside Church (Cheltenham and Frankston, with another satelite opening in Elwood in 2007)
Australia for Christ Fellowship (ACF) (Rowville)
City Life Church (Knox)
As far as I know, these all have websites too if you wanna check them out.

There's one that I go to sometimes (Christmas, mainly) which is in Finch St, East Malvern. (fairly inner south-eastern suburbs)
Can't remember what it's called (St John's maybe?)
It's at the end of Finch St, near the corner of Waverly Rd. It seems to be quite progressive, but is certainly not one of those new age ones with big billboards out the front that says "Jesus is cool" or anything like that. It's an Anglican one I think.
If that's not your bag, there is a Greek Orthodox Church around the corner in Epping Street (where I live). It has big street parades at easter which look like fun.

This is my church
http://www.mpbc.org.au/
It is in Moonee Ponds. So if you live anywhere in that area we can work out a lift if you need one. Ring the office weekdays any time and ask for Mal or Doug. tell them Johnno sent you. Have a look at our web site. You'll see that we are a vibrant church with a good mix of young and old people. God bless.

What religion do you want? Catholic? Anglican? Uniting? Presbyterian? Methodist? Pentecostal? All beliefs are catered for in Melbourne.
