I am a Melaleuca Marketing Executive and our business has grown. It was when we were able to hire/ recruit individuals that also see this as a viable business that our business grew.
To help you as it has helped me I would say that the more people you approach the more people you will have success with.
The key and secret is to approach people that are in your TARGET market. Do not just approach just anyone. Your target market should be people that WEAR jewelry.
So your eyes should always be peeled and on the lookout for those women that are jewelry wearers.
As an example mine are people that are concerned about their health, wellness and the environment. It is secondary to get them interested in the business after getting them to be customers.
My family has been blessed by this company and the opportunities it has afforded us. Along with that it is such a simple business.
You lose nothing by asking people and everything to gain. If you do not ask people to host a party you have gained nor have you lost anything. If this has not been enough help I know that the following website will give you several tips that will help you with any business.

Lia Sophia should be offering you some sort of training program. Check it out and see what they have to offer.

Tell the person who is hosting it that she will receive a gift (piece of jewellery)
You could also give her a percent (10%) of the sale
Or a discount (25%) off any jewellery she orders. (You would still get a commission on what the hostess orders depending on what your costs is.

Go offer to offices where ladies are career women. They sure need accessories. Offer department stores. Offer to friends and relatives. Its just religion that you offer your friends and relatives.
