Try looking for some flim companies to pitch your idea to. Put together any story boards and versions you may have made of it.
If you truely are passionate about this story your enthusiam will get people interested. Write it out in script version.
Please look me up if you do make a flim, I am a mature 3D digitial design student, I might have some ideas they may or may not be of help.
Best of luck!!

Get your book published first. When that's done, you want to be sure that copies reach Hollywood. Send free copies to two or three film agents for their consideration. If they bite, they will help you sell the film option (a studio buys the film rights for a limited length of time). They will assign it to a scriptwriter. If the scriptwriter is good and the material fits the current trends in Hollywood, it might even go into production in which case you get more money. If not, you get the film rights back when the option expires and can start all over again.

You don't everyone told you by now how to do it. But not every book is made into a film. Your book must be better than other peoples books. Watch out for that.

Most people are pretty happy just having had written a book! ;p
well, you can publish your book and hope someone likes it. Pitch it to a film company. Or just mail a copy in to a head at a film company. If they like it, they can turn it into a movie, if not... heh... write another book.

You don't. If a movie company thinks your book is suitable then they will approach your agent directly. Unfortunately if they don't think it will be a hit then they won't make a movie out of it. Chances are your book will have to be very popular e.g. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Narnia. If you feel your idea is good enough then you should try pitching your idea to a movie studio and not your book. If you name a book they never heard of they will throw out the idea straight away so just give them the plot not the book.

First rewrite your book as a film script (or ask somebody to do it for you) and then submit it to a film company.
If you're serious, rewrite you book as a film script and then submit it to the BBC. Got to www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom for details. There's even a script writing template there called Script Smart which works with for MS Word. It's available for download free of charge.

All you have to do is read the book first. Then get a director and set and actors/actresses. Give the actors and actresses lines that would make sense referring to the book. Give them movements and then practice. Then film it with a video camera!
P.S.-Sorry if you don't like my answer.

May I know what type of book you write? Is it comedy, action or vampire? You may contact OJ Baclig who is a director of www.hopeboatfilms.com.
Good luck. I hope your book will soon be made into film.

Your agent handles that. Working Title is well known for bringing British books to the screen. Once they've brought the rights, wait about 10 years, they might start thinking about it.
