An important thing to keep in mind, regardless of which anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall you use
( http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx ) is to keep it UPDATED, just as it is important to make sure you have all windows critical and security updates +
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

Note: The way I have mine set is to only notify me that updates are availiable, but to not download them automaticaly. Then I can check to be sure I get just the ones I want. I then click on "custom", and after the updates have been downloaded I look them over to see which ones I want, then disconnect from the net, disable firewall and anti-virus program, and then install the updates, and then re-enable the firewall and anti-virus programs before reconnecting to the net.

I tried Avast and I hated it. It kept messing with my program files thinking they were viruses. It took out excel
and other well known programs. It acted like a virus.
I would never put that program in my system again, ever.

I used to use Trend Micros's house call all the time (free) and it worked great. It got rid the Bymer worm for free and the others scans couldn't even find it.

i take advantage of vogue micro laptop-cillin, it is no longer loose; yet there's a thank you to make it loose, you in easy terms could replace it manually - receive a record off the information superhighway internet site and pasting it in its folder - actually manually. whether it is the suited antivirus i will discover that may not too reliable. the element i hate approximately maximum antivirus like norton is that it incredibly is in basic terms too reliable that it makes my cyber web connection slow. yet another is pandasoftware or pandasecurity's on line antivirus. i like it by using fact, even in the experience that your device is corrupted, in case you employ this and test you laptop. panda's activescan professional can come across it and clean it immediately, there's no longer something to configure. lower back it is no longer loose. i additionally do in contrast to avg and kapersky. it is likewise solid to have a minimum of four antispyware like yahoo-ca, spybot, secret agent ware look after, spyblaster, advert-conscious - i think of those are all loose. it is likewise a robust element to attempt microsoft's wl onecare loose ninety day trial, esp while you're lazy in cleansing your laptop, defragmenting it and updating it. it incredibly makes your laptop runs speedier. lower back it is no longer loose. yet I actually have a knack of reformatting and reinstalling my laptop from scratch, so i will use the trial everytime i reformat. it is in easy terms solid to have a freshly reinstalled laptop.
