currently downloading linux 6.06 but have run out of blank cd r'z will it be ok to use dvd r

i have a dvd rom and a dvd rw in my tower which i want to install linux in but there is no o/s on the hdd will it work?

if the iso is larger than 700mb, than it's a dvd iso and should be burned to a dvd. but if it's less than or 700mb, than is should be burned to a cd. the file system characteristics of bootable cds make it necessary to keep the same file and size structures.

Yes, you can burn the Ubuntu install CD information to a DVD.
The key to making it work is standard like any other ISO, that its "burned" as bootable and not "copied" as an iso file.

The reason its called a CD version is it fits on a CD unlike most of the other common distro's that either need several CD's or one DVD because of the amount of data that comes along with the distribution as standard.
