What Software are you using to write the disks ?
You can't just drag and drop in explorer.
Below is a link to a completly free burning package.
It can burn both CD's and DVD's even though it's called CD Burner XP Pro

Even though you have a dvd rw you still need software to write onto dvds. You can check internet and download free trials of some programs but eventually you will have to go to computer shop and purchase one piece of software which will let you burn dvds, i suggest trying 'sonic' i found it to be the best of the lot.

Make sure you have a CD or DVD BURNER!!
