I recently got a Nintendo Wii. I tried to connect it to the internet. The Wii locates the Access Point. But then, I have to test it. For some reason, it does not work and tells me "Unable to connect to the Internet. Please see support.nintendo.com for troubleshooting". Anyway, so I go to the site and it tells me that there is a problem with my router, most likely the firmware. Our router is Belkin F5D7230-4 with two antennae. So I'm like, okay. I look for firmware updates. I find loads for F5D7230-4, but they are all for North America. Our router is from Europe. We find two for Europe, but one is for single antennae, and one is for 2003. We got our router in 2005. Now, I have a few questions:

-What should I do about the firmware? Do you know where I can find updates? Does firmware from North America work with any router? How do I apply firmware to my router? Do I install it? How?

Thank you in advance,
-malfunctiones

Do the following:

To download the firmware:
1. Open a web Browser
2. In the address bar type http://192.168.2.1
3. Click on Firmware Update in the left hand column under Utilities.
4. Enter you password if any and click Submit.
5. Click on Check Firmware, and click Download
6. A window will open that allows you to select the location where you want to save the firmware file. Select a location.
7. When you have selected the location, click “Save”. Once the download is complete, click “Close”
Note: You can name the file anything you want, or use the default name. Be sure to download the file in a place where you can locate it.
To install the firmware
1. From the Firmware Update page, click Browse a dialogue box will open that allows you to select the location of the firmware update file.
2. Browse to the firmware file you downloaded. Select the file by double-clicking on the file name.
3. The Update Firmware box will now display the location and name of the firmware file you just selected. Click “Update”.
4. You will be asked if you are sure you want to continue. Click “OK”
5. You will see one more message. The message tells you that the Router may not respond to commands for as long as one minute. This is normal. Do not turn off or reboot the Router during this time. Click “OK”
6. A 60-second countdown will appear on the screen. When the countdown reaches zero, the firmware will be complete. The Router home page should appear automatically. If not, type in the Router’s address (default = 192.168.2.1) into the address bar or your browser.

The Firmware update is complete.

Firmware updates are specific to the model number of the router.

It doesn't matter where you live, all that matters is matching the firmware to your router.

The previous post is bang on. If you have any problems, read the FAQ's on Belkin's site.
