I am 39 Weeks 1 Day Pregnant.

As of last Thursday I was 100% effaced and fingertip dilated.

I woke tonight (it's now 4:00 A.M.) with slight cramping and Braxton Hicks. I have had Braxton Hicks throughout my pregnancy but now they are starting to become REALLY frequent. I am talking like 3-4 every 10 minutes. It's like my stomach is rock hard 80% of the time now and I am worried. The pain really isn't becoming very intense, just uncomfortable

I know. Call my doctor.

Besides that, has anyone experienced this? Could I be going into labor and just not be experiencing the extreme pain everyone associates with going into labor?

Yes, i am 38 weeks pregnant and been feeling intense braxton hicks for the last week they feel uncomfortable and sometimes i have to breath through them but they do not get any more painful.. I have checked with my midwife and she says they sound like hicks and it is very normal to get them regularly this late on in pregnancy.. Even every two minutes.. My belly like yours has felt like rock more often than not. I feel like everyday will be the day but nothing has happened yet.. Hope it happens soon for you. Good luck!! Xx

Braxton Hicks are irregular, slightly uncomfortable contractions. If you are having regular contractions you are probably in labor! Congrats! Not everyone feels the same level of pain with contractions and they usually get more painful as they go on. I was in labor for 12 hours my first time (and I feel lucky it was only that long) and I was only truly in pain the last 2-3 hours. Time your contractions and call your doctor.

Not everyone's labour is painful from the outset... and if you're having regular contractions - which it sounds like you are - then you need to get checked out as this does sound like the beginnings of labour rather than Braxton Hicks.

Good luck, congratulations, and let us know how you get on!
