Thanks to all who took time out to answer the first question.
Regarding the Earth; we now know that in this situation, our planet would slingshot into space and freeze.

Think: an object with the mass of the sun disapears! What are the gravitational effects? I have seen the model with the stretched rubber sheet and the bowing ball - if that bowling ball were to vanish, the sheet would instantly become taut, releasing the energy of the ball's mass.

So, if the sun were to disapear would there be a gravity wave?

Hmm, if the sun suddenly disappeared, what would happen.
Well if it went quickly and quietly (impossible), there would be the same drive into deep space. The earth as any other satellite, is held in a balance between the sun's gravitational pull and its own forward motion. These two forces in balance hold the earth in orbit. remove gravity and the earth would move in a straight line into space.

On another note, a user's answer was interesting. I am referring to the users comment on liberals and global warming. Interesting concept. Does he/she think that not hearing of global warming will solve the problem? Another case of 'Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes", I think. What recklessness. Ignore dire warnings for the sake of big business.

Yes there would be a strong gravitational pull from the sun that will pull all the objects into it, this is called the theory of black hole.

Well, if the Sun suddenly disappeared, we wouldn't have to listen to the liberals ***** about global warming anymore! That would probably be the only god thing that would happen though.

The sun couldn't disappear unless it did a supernova.

Very interesting thought wave! Very imaginative, too!
