Here in Canada, due to the high number of applications, its taking 6-8 weeks.

it takes a few weeks to a few months. start at the post office by getting an application and following the instructions to the letter. a special photo (pasport pic) will be required. anything else, such as birth certificate etc., will be in the application packet you get. remember, a passport is only good for five years and must be renewed or it isn't any good. unless you realy have a need for one, don't get one. it just gets you into more data bases than you need. but if you need one, in a hurry, there is an expediatable process, otherwise expect a long wait.

If you're in UK you can go to the passport office in London and do it in one day.

If you are in the U.S., it can take up to 8 weeks, unless you pay for expedited service.

try applying asap as the closer it gets to summer the longer you will have to wait for one!
