Bullying is one of life's ironies. The bully is outwardly bold but that is far from true when you look at the inner truths and motivation. The bullied appear weak and frightened but that is not the inner truth either. Bullies have low self esteem and their actions are driven by a desire to be recognized and belong without being taken for granted which must mean that bullies do not trust in the goodness of life; perhaps because of negative experiences in the hands of role models (not necessarily kith and kin). I have noticed that the bullied are either physically different, bright, beautiful or simply quiet happy people. The root of bullying is more often than not jealousy and envy - anybody can be a bullies target but appearing confident even when you don't feel it can help keep you out of the bullies path.

Bullying stems from some sort of disfunction in the family unit. If they feel they are being ignored by the family, they will act out with bad behavior. It could also be a sign that the bully is being bullied by someone else. Either way is not good.

repeatedly being bullied is usually because of the demeanor they project. it's important to project a sense of confidence in your body language and response to any attempt of bullying in order to protect yourself.
the bully is usually full of insecurities and uses dominance to put others down or control them in order to bolster their own self esteem and image in front of others.
quite often, the bully is being bullied at home in some way.

the cycle needs to be broken by showing you just are not willing to be bullied and wont put up with it - by appearing strong and indifferent to its affects on you.
