i think it depends on how u use discipline.. it can go either way ending up being constructive or destructive to creativity.
discipline that is harsh, dictating or critical in a negative way will obviously stifle creativity.. while discipline that is nurturing, receptive and gentle could be a guiding light.

As someone already mentioned, discipline is a tool utilized by all good artists (writers, musicians, dancers, etc.).

I'm an experienced guitarist, and there's no way I could have accomplished so much without dedication to practice and basics like technique exercises.

I'm also a writer, and know the value of good mechanics (grammar, punctuation, spelling) and paragraph development.

Most anyone can be "creative," but it takes discipline to finely hone your art and display it in its best form.

I believe guides it to fruition. " A diamond is made from a piece of coal made good under pressure." However the outcome if negative reinforcement is used to often as to what type of discipline it can possibly result in lowered self esteem. Frequent negative reinforcement creates an additional pesimistic attitude, sometimes rebellious, which narrows the view of fruition being an obtainable goal.
