There are websites that pay you to recycle old consumer electronics. You'll have to do a search: we don't know what metro area you're close to.

Also, a less exciting but useful means: contact your county/township's sanitation department and ask. If it's a working laptop, they may accept it as a donation to be reused for local school or government, or they'll direct you to a recycling program they're aware of. Worst case scenario: your landfill can process it like any other electronic and it'll be broken down and recycled by parts: casing as plastic, breadboard as corrugate, LCD as glass and metals/chips to be resmelted.

Put it on ebay. You would be surprised who is willing to pay for stuff that doesn't work because they want the parts. If you don't want the money donate whatever you get for it to charity.

If it nevertheless runs in any respect, my first reaction could be to have it stripped and easily donate it. Social agencies are attentive to families with young infants who won't be in a position to locate the money for one, yet could income a great deal via having one to apply by using emphasis on computers in the colleges. in any different case, return it to the place to procure it and that they'll get rid of it. they could probable pay you for any reusable areas.
