Yes, because JKR has said he's really dead. This isn't to say she may bring him back some way-- she has also said that Dumbledore is really dead, but commented to (I think) Daniel Radcliffe while writing book 7 that Dumbletore was giving her trouble. (Radcliffe said he asked how, because Dumbledore is dead, but she didn't tell explain further.) It may just be Dumbledore in the painting or it may be a memory of Dumbledore that Harry sees (perhaps saved in the pensieve?) but he'll apparently be in Deathly Hallows in some form.

Back to your question: it could be that some part of him survived in some form and may even communicate with Harry, but he's dead.

There is a theory out there that even though Sirius is dead that he and Harry will have contact in the last book. The reason is the mirror that Sirius gave Harry. Some think that the two way mirror will work between this life and where Sirius is in the veil. However, sad to say, Sirius is dead.

I sort of am hoping that in the end him and harry will be reunited. That he will come back somehow, with out harry dyeing of course.

But like other have said, J.K. has said that Sirius is dead.

Maybe because it is a magical story harry will some how find a way to communicate with Sirius.

Jo Rowling said in an interview that Sirius is definitely dead.

"As stated by JK Rowling during the BBC Paxman interview, 2003, Sirius Black is "definitely dead."[2] She has created further intrigue, however, by making a cryptic reference to the communication mirror Sirius gave to Harry before he died: "The mirror might not have helped as much as you think, but on the other hand, will help more than you think. You’ll have to read the final book to understand that!"[3]"

I think Sirius is "dead" in Harry's current world, but still exists in the zone behind the veil. Harry tried the mirror, but who knows if Sirius had his mirror on him when he fell through? Maybe Harry will find Sirius's mirror in the last book, throw it through the veil, and thus communicate with Sirius? I don't know, all guesswork. Can't wait till July for the final instalment.

Yes he is, unfortunately - he is my favourite character too! I don't think it was Bellatrix's spell that killed him, it was falling through the veil that killed him. The veil would appear to be the gateway between life and death. That's why Lupin clung onto Harry so hard - to stop him from diving through it after Sirius. As for the two-way mirror theory, I'm inclined not to believe in that. Harry tried to contact him with his one once he'd remembered it with no success then he threw it into his trunk where it broke so I doubt it would work any more anyway.

I don't think it was Bella's spell that did him in but falling through the veil is a one way trip. So he may be dead in this plane of existance but who knows about the 'other' one.

I hope hes not dead coz he was my favourite character in the books (not quite sure why though). But i reckon if he was still alive he would have made contatc with Harry in the last book.
