given the fact that many LEGITIMATE sportsmen had their Hand Guns removed, due to a change in the law. Would the Gov. start legalising hand Guns again? After all., it's the criminals that are using them illegally NOT us sportmen.

Stuff the law, I have 3 hand guns but would only use them to defend myself and family, I re-armed when all these immigrants started pouring in, and I will stay armed no matter what.

My father keeps guns for sport reasons and every 6 months we have a police officer knocking the door checking that the guns are locked in a safe which is bolted to the floor and the ammo is kept in a totally different part of the house. He also has to hand in passport photos of himself every 6 months so they can update their records so what I can't understand is if they are so strict on sports people why can't they be as strict with criminals.
Personally I believe if your caught with a gun you do not have a license for then you should be sent to prison for maybe 2 years with no question but I guess that would be against their 'human rights'!

Same problem in America and Canada. I believe the only way to sort it out is to have the right to bare arms because if you cant protect yourself, your family and your home your a sitting duck! All those that disagree would see the light after they were the victim of a 'home invasion' but i don't think that happens alot if at all in the UK.

I am English, but for your consideration, this is the second amendment of the US Bill of Rights.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

I don't see any problem with this, but of course our current Prime Minister (who banned an Olympic sport) would see "free State" and "right of the People" and make sure nothing like that happened here.

Ducati girl, there is a complete ban here in the UK, look how successful it has been.

Guns are guns. It is the hands they are in that cause problems. Sportsman use them legitimately and they should be able to keep them, but it is unfortunate that in any country that sells guns (whether legally or illegally) they will always be able to get into the wrong hands. The only way to stop this is a complete ban!

because the gov hate there own people so much, its inevetable they let criminals have the guns so they can creat more fear in the comunity, and give the police a good reason to arm.
dont underestimate synicle politicians.if you are a sportsman, buy a gun and egnore the gov anyway. the gov themselves are illegal.

why can't the guns be supplied by the place you use them at and then they must be returned after use. then you could only get a gun if you went to these places but you'd have to somehow stealth it out afterwards. is this just a naive idea or what.

Handguns are banned because they are easily concealed. They are designed for killing, not hunting. Rifles on the other hand are alright. Look at America if you wan't to see the effects of legalising weapons. About 80% of gun deaths there are caused by handguns. No one wants another Dunblane.

Guns should only be allowed for Sportsmen and Farmers, as for anyone else they should not be allowed to have one. All should be banned from the public.

Handguns should remain illegal. Don't forget that handguns were banned after the Dunblane incident, and the guy that did that was a member of a legitimate gun club.
