and all seats are vacant, do you sit facing forwards (facing in the moving direction) or backwards ? and why, if for any particular reason ?

Forward. Always forward. I can't explain it, but sitting backward (in a limousine, train, bus, etc...) gives me double the motion sickness.

I'll lean with my back against a wall. Or just stand holding onto the above head poles facing the doorway. No particular reason, just if it's busy I want to get off the train so I stand in the doorway, I guess. With seating I don't mind where I sit aslong as it isn't too close to the ticket machine, it's much too busy there.

Facing backwards - just to show I can, because it seems to make a lot of people sick (not to leave the forward seats for them - losers!)

I like to sit facing the way I'm going. One of my journeys is from Leeds to Glasshoughton. Bit of a problem here, as the train goes the opposite way after Castleford, so I have keep moving seats so i'm the right way around.

I like to face the direction that the train is traveling..

Forwards! I get travel sickness lol! Plus i prefer to know where my closet exit is just in case of an emergency!
