Philippines does not allow divorce esp if u are a Christian (Roman Catholics) bcoz they are depending in the law of the church & not the law of the state. (so complicated to explain coz its very long, so im making only it in short). But Philippines allow the "annulment of marriage" or "legal separation". And this annulment of marriage must pass through court hearings. The court has to weigh everything if they are really bound to separate each other or make their marriage void. Both parties must present their legal evidence, with witness and their own lawyers, per se. Before court hearings start, it will be published through a magazine or an official gazette to let everybody know the situation if someone (parents/relatives,etc) would have an attempt to block the hearings. Both of them will undergo psychological oral examination through a specialist doctor just to prove if either one of them is incompetent to face the court hearings. If both has children during their marriage, the court must settle everything for the custody of the children & so do with conjugal properties. All of the proceedings above will only be started after 7 years of non-contact/non-communication/observation of the couple's situation. And this battle would cost a lot of money for them. Hence, not all can afford for this kind of procedure, some would only separate by their own consent & may look for another wife/husband.
