I'm considering buying an electric guitar but I don't know where to start.

I want to buy a cheap one (initially) in case I lose interest, so preferably something cheap. It doesn't have to sound *amazing*, "okay" is fine with me.

Oh! And something I can buy in the UK (if that makes a difference)!
Cheers!

I'd try a Squier guitar, made by Fender. They are known for making good, inexpensive guitars. They have Telecaster and Stratocaster shapes (and a few others.) Their Squier '51 guitar got good reviews from Guitar Player magazine and only costs $99 US.

Good Luck.

Try one of the Mexican made Fender Strats. They are pretty good and not too expensive.

Any reputable music store will have them or purchase on line for the best prices.
