Most of the shipping companies I cover that are publicly traded in the stock market are worth several billion dollars, and have alot of debt financing. I recommend you start small first.

start by learning more.. i recommend you programs in Europe like Antwerp (www.itmma.com) or Rotterdam... (http://www.maritimeeconomics.com).. you will learn how the market is organized and how the industry operates... then make the connections and go ahead!
