Your hormones were probably out of whack. Or, you may be pregnant. Some women have their periods while they are pregnant for some time. I think you should go to a doctor to be sure.

Unfortunately the symptoms of PMT & those experienced in early pregnancy are similar. Things such as sore enlarged breasts, fatigue, bloating, frequent urination, tiredness & mood swings can be experienced with both conditions. However if you have never experienced these or the ones you are now with PMT before or during your period then although it is possible for a women to develop PMT as she gets older if the degree of these symptoms are quite high then you shouldnt rule out pregnancy just yet.
Some women do still experience a period when they first fall pregnant, it is sometimes lighter or on & off rather than a steady flow for 3-4 days. This is due to the egg embedding itself in your uterus. However some women still experience 'period' type episodes all through their pregnancies!
The only way you can tell what is happening is by waiting until your period finishes. If you still have the symptoms at this point, then take a pregnancy test as the continuation of the symptoms indicates pregnancy as PMT would finish when your period does as the hormones alter in your body. If the symptoms disappear when your period does, it may just be exagerated PMT.
If you cant wait until then or your period is not quite as normal take a home pregnancy test now. If its neg, wait until your period finishes & then decide whether to test again based on the above.
I wish you all the best & hope this information helps you!

Most of the symptoms of very early pregnancy are almost identical symptoms experienced by a lot of women just before their period starts - tender breasts, bloated abdomen, feeling off colour, mood swings etc. If a women is hoping to be pregnant or fearful of being pregnant she can easily misinterpret these symptoms as a pregnancy.
If the symptoms continue after your period has finished and continue to intensify (and be honest with yourself about this) then visit your doctor.

Symptoms of pregnancy can often be very similar to PMS symptoms. Also the brain is a powerful thing.
If you really think you are pregnant, then do a test. It is possible to have a period in early pregnancy, although not normal.

the best thing to do is to go to your Dr for a pregnancy test- a blood test is the most reliable. if that's not an option, buy a home pregnancy test(most are under $10).in either case you should see a Dr for the symptoms you're having.having your period does not always rule out pregnancy...i had my period for two months into my first pregnancy!i hope this helps you-good luck!

You aren't officially pregnant until you have taken a test and it has come back positive. It is still possible to be pregnant and have periods so the only way you will know for sure is to take a test.

I've heard about something called a "phantom pregnancy" on TV. You have symptoms of pregnancy but you're not. If you're still not sure, go to your doctor to check it out.
