I'm asian and my eyelashes are stick-straight. I have a regular eyelash curler and I've tried using all sorts- cheap, heated, everything. So far the best that has worked for me is a regular, $8 dollar metal one that looks frankenstein scary.

Anyway. When I use it, I do everything all of those eHows and stuff tells me too. I clip it for about 5 seconds, unclp it and frenzy to slick on my Loreal black mascara. Then I move on to the other eye. By the time my other eye is done and I look back, it's already straight again!!!!

I am not exaggerating. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried hairspray, vaseline (they weighed down my eyelashes) and my mom refuses to let me perm my eyelashes because she is convinced they will fall off.

help!!!

I love asian eyes. BUT that's not what you asked. I like the Mary Kay eyelash curler, myself, because it doesn't rip my lashes out. My lashes are fairly straight, but if I curl the base for 10 seconds, then move to the middle for 10 seconds, and then toward the end for 10 seconds (all this keep lashes from having a "bent" look rather than curled), my lashes stay that way for the most part until I wash my face. Too much mascara does re-straighten lashes because of the weight, I've discovered. Mascara only *after* you've curled. Else they could break off.

Good for your mom. I don't know if your lashes would fall off from perming, but so many women go blind from perming and dying their lashes. Not worth it.

Did I mention asian eyes are beautiful?

The only answers i have for you are the obvious ones... you can use a mascara specifically inclined to curl moreso then lengthen, you can obviously curl your eyelashes but i would recommend curling before, hold for 10 seconds, and after, hold for ten seconds, you apply mascara. Make sure your eyelashes are clean before you apply, do NOT use oily makeup removed to get the mascara off. If you're brave, you could always try Latisse. I'm afraid too because of the only side effect (turning the colored part of the eye darker or dark spots) but it promotes healthy growing of the eyelashes. Hope i helped a little.

okay, have you tried the "shisedo" brand of eyelash curler?? It is the best out there, and the whole line of cosmectics is primarily design for asian women.

Also try curling several different places on the eyelashes starting toward your lid working your way to the tips, and holding it for 15 seconds at each place.

Then use a super curling mascara, hypnose by Lancome works great or Chanel has a new one that is amazing!

you might want to concider lash extentions or false individual lashes, if nothing else works these options if done properly can look very natural. GOOD LUCK!

I am asian too and I have the same problem. But to keep my eyelashes curled:
1. Curl with a curler for 30 seconds, press hard
2. Apply 1 coat mascara
3. When mascara is semi-dry, curl again (remember to wash it off the curler)
4. Apply 2nd coat mascara

for a really dramatic look (for parties etc.)
5. Repeat steps 3-4

It works for me..

i have the same problem! not only are mine SUPER straight, but they go in crazy directions!?! and i couldn't find a mascara that would make my eyelashes look thicker. my eyelash curler accidently CUT my eyelashes a couple of months ago?! but they did grow back... it's actually BAD to curl your eyelashes after mascara b/c it pulls hair out (but hey as long as your careful right? make sure it's clean so eyelashes dont stick to old mascara) ..

here are a few suggestions.

1. fake eyelashes (when you really want ur eyes to make a statement and your own arent dont do the justice)
2. MAC PRIMER... i use it and i love it!! it takes the place of layering ur eyelashes with mascara to thicken and to go in the right direction and then i use ZOOM mascara ...it goes on SO easily!
3. Lash extensions.. it's costly but if you don't want to have to deal with using fake ones everyday it's an option... plus every session you go they get thicker and thicker (some will fall out in the process, but they generally add on)

hope this helps!

well i run into the same problem now and again. i use a heated eyelash curler, i let it heat up 4 a minute then i pump it at the base and hold for 30 seconds. it will look crazy because they will stand straight up then i do it in the middle. i apply mascara and it comes down to a nice curl. hope it helps, good luck!

Oh dear

i used to live in China and people used to get their eyelashes permed on the street, it was so common!

If you fail to convince your mom to allow you to get a perm I really cant think of another way to do it, I had a friend who was asian but her eyelashes were curly because she had been using mascara everyday for years..do you use mascara??

A heated eyelash curler is a good idea, but you can just warm a regular one with a blowdryer--I do it all the time. Just blast a metal curler with warm heat for a few seconds. I test it on my arm to make sure it's not too hot, but warm enough to do the trick. Works good, and the curl stays longer than with no heat. But, please be careful not to get it too hot, you can burn yourself badly.

Buy an eyelash curler and keep curling your lashes. also put a heavy coat of mascara, and your lashes will be curled at all times.

Don't hairspray your eyelashes, spray the curler and then do what the first girl said to do but only do it one time. good luck
