My friend is flying from Boston to Beijing. I am in Beijing. This is the email he sent to me yesterday. Can anyone tell me when I should be going to the airport to pick him up? He told me but I still dont know what day or exact time. Does anyone have an idea?

His email:
My Plane leaves on Monday, technically tomorrow, but I am not exactly sure when I will get to BJ. First off, I am 13 hours behind China time, but Chicago is 14 hours behind. I leave Boston 7:15pm on Monday the 19th. I get to Chicago 9:15pm (Chicago time) and leave 1:00am Tuesday the 20th. That means I should get to Seoul arround 2:00-3:00am Wednesday the 21st. I should get to Beijing somewhere between 5:00 and 10:00am (China time) depending on the layover

Looks like somewhere between 5:00 and 10:00am (China time) on 21st. You don't really want to be hanging around the airport for 5 hours though.

His plane ticket/itinerary should tell him the scheduled arrival time and date in the local time at the destination. Get him to phone you from Seoul if he can.

Is the 2:00-3:00am Chicago time, China time or Korean time (Seoul is 1 hr ahead of Beijing)? If it is Chicago time, then he'll arrive in Seoul about 4pm-5pm (China Time). It takes him 3 hrs to get from Boston to Chicago, (he would arrive 10.15pm Boston time), If the 2-3am arrival time is Korean Time (Seoul is 1 hr a head of china) then he arrives in Seoul about 1-2am(China time). If it then takes the same 3 hours to travel from one timezone to another one that is 1 hour behind AND the layover is 3hrs 45 (like the last one) then he would arrive in Beijing between 4.45am-5.45am China time. This would depend on the actual layover time like he said. The day is Wednesday because the plane would go over the International Date Line going from Chicago to Seoul, i.e it has already become Wednesday in Seoul and Beijing, whereas it would still be 2.45-3.45pm on Tuesday in Chicago time.

In summary, he should arrive in Beijing between 4.45am-5.45am on Wednesday 21st.

Or alternatively, just get him to check his Seoul to Beijing ticket, this will say at what time the plane will arrive. The arrival time is almost always shown in the local time of the destination. Even if it's in Chicago time just add the 14hrs to get China time (or subtract 10 then add a day).

Then tell him to let you know of his travel plans more than 2 days in advance!

The simple answer is search for flights/landings that match your friend's itinerary ... based on which airline he is using.

I can tell you that there isn't a 7:15 AM flight out of Boston through Chicago to Seoul/Beijing on American Airlines (they route through Shanghai, not Seoul).

But using the AA flight schedule as an example - leaving Boston at 5.50 PM on the 19th, your friend would arrive in Beijing around 11.20 PM on the 21st.

This would be a time-for-travel of approximately 40 hours from take-off in Boston to landing in Beijing.

Your friend will be in Beijing on Wednesday 21st February morning
roughly when the sun rises at Beijing. The exact time will depend on how long he halts at Seoul.

Ring the airport and ask them when they expect flights to arrive from Chicago.

Call the airport and ask for the flight arrival time. You might need the flight number.

you are assuming each viewer gets the data independently of the others. No, the data is broadcast, and each viewer taps into the stream. Each viewer receives the data as broadcast, and thus contributes nothing to the amount of data. It's like broadcast TV or radio. The data is one-way only, from broadcast station to viewer, and they all get the same data. .
