Another associated question is whether brothers and sisters had to be parents for the early generations.

I have no intention to negate the profound religious belief in such matters... it just seems to me that the great religious works are to be understood rather symbolically than literally.

Why are there so many kinds of dogs, birds or lizards? It is simply because the bible does not get into the full illustrations of creation. Well, not clearly as we would like. Adam and Eve are a symbolic representation of the first of mankind, not just 'A' man and 'A' woman. God created 'MAN' from the dust of the ground. All men, not just one. Adam and Eve had two sons, Cain and Able. Cain killed Able and was banished to the land of Nod. Where he settled, married, and raised a family. If there were only One man and one woman, where did the People in Nod come from? Simple: God did not do a magic trick.
"Alakazam!!' "People!!"
The Intelligent fore knowing Entity was to smart for that. The process of evolution as the format for intelligent design is most accurate. That is the only way to explain the diversity of species in any living thing including man. Moderate differences according to their location on the planet as they evolved. Though incest had occurred, even in the bible, I do not believe brothers and sisters HAD to be parents. Though some may have chose to be so.

Symbolically rather than literally is correct to a point.

I can't give you a direct answer on that, but I do believe that there was an Adam and an Eve, and the rest is theoritical after that. Many things in the Bible were symbolic, yet many things actually happened.

Why can't non-believers simple accept the fact that our tiny human minds were never meant to fathom all the questions and mysteries of this world. There is enough truth in the Bible and realities in this plane that have me convinced that there must be a God. That is why faith is more important than our very limited rationale.

some geneticists have self belief that there are not *actual* human races - that we are each and every of a similar race. they suspect this simply by fact the adjustments in the human genome are very small whilst in comparison with different animals. maximum racial adjustments are cultural, no longer genetic. the adjustments between the races, which includes dermis shade and hair texture and such, are very minor on a genetic point. there is not any reason to have self belief that large genetic selection wasn't latest already with Adam and Eve. independent and risky genetic defects that have accrued considering that then could additionally clarify minor adjustments. (working example, some think of eco-friendly eyes are a independent illness, and sickle cellular anemia could be a risky illness).

We all descended from a common anscestor. Whether you believe that was Adam or an ape is up to you. Either way, you still have the problem of how did the different races and skin colors come about. I'm not sure, but it may be related to how so many different breeds of dog came about?

Evolution in different climates. Leopards exists across the world, they are white and fluffy in cold climates and so on - were they up the tower of babel too? Im sorry my logic sometimes makes me cynical.

Since we all moved to places far and wide, the environment helped to shape our looks. In Africa, where the sun is scorching, those who were darker were able to withstand heat and were the ones who found it less of a burden to have children, thus most Africans have darker skin. Most other differences were shaped that way...
As for brothers and sisters becoming parents, whether you believe in the bible or evolution, it must have happened else homo sapiens or humans would not have so similar genetics, or even existed.

Its just a religious belief that's all. some time a go every one thought the world was flat according to there religious belief. They gave heavy punishments and even slotted the people who mentioned the world is round.
Now every one knows that our world is round. Thanks to the advance of science.
I think Darwin's theory is more appropriate than these religious myths. Darwin's theory will give you more proper answer to your question.

Personally, I believe that we are all different because of the tower of Babel. (In case you aren't famliar with this, it's a story in the bible about how God struck down the people and cause us all to speak in different tounges and each people who spoke the same language went different ways) All those people moved to different climates and continents and over time developed differently to adapt to their surroundings. (A bit of creationism and Darwin mixed together there)
As far as the brother/sister questions goes.. I don't really know on that one

I think that God was a little bit smarter than Darwin (just a LITTLE bit of sarcasm hereÜ), and knew that people who lived where the sun was burning hot all the time needed more color in their skin to keep them from burning...and I agree that the differences started at the tower of Babel.
