I am an American and 5+ years ago I did move out of country. I now live in Tunisia and I love it very much! I came here by myself and as for the language, many people speak English, but I was able to learn the local language very easily.
Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, it is the northernmost African country, and the smallest of the nations situated along the Atlas mountain range, bordering Algeria, to the west, and Libya to the south east.
The country is so full of history (has been under the rule of Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Berbers, Ottomans, Beys, and French; played a significant part in WWII, was the center of the ancient world with Carthage as the capitol, etc) and it has so many beautiful places to visit! It is unlike any other Arab country in that is has a lot of greenery. There are also many historical ruins in just about every part of the country you go to.
The mountain region is breathtaking! There are fantastic views and an the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old town in Switzerland. Absolutely gorgeous! The coast is marvelous. The Sea is clear and picturesque. The midland and south are terrific because they offer you the chance to peek into a forgotten society - one that holds fast to tradition. I have been all over Tunisia and have visited most cities and have loved everyone because they each have their own special charm.
The people are so warm and hospitable. They instantly welcome you as one of their own and treat you like family. Tunisia is also a very safe place. There are not many places in this world where a women can walk the streets alone in the middle of the night without fear. Yet I often take late night walks and have never had any problems and have never felt fearful. Tunisia on a whole is a very safe country. I have lived in Tunis and Monastir and have visited other parts of the country without any problems.
To learn more about Tunisia, I invite you to read any of my blogs, or look at any of my pictures.

I loved Morocco. It is not as dangerous as most people would believe. The government understands the importance of tourism as does its' best to make everyone feel safe. If you are a female traveling alone, you might want to find people in hostels and hotels to travel with.
It is a culture shock, but a very nice one. You definately pay for your safety and comforts. For example, to travel to the Sahara cost us $300 from Marrekech by renting a car and finding campsites along the way. To book everything in advance and have a guide take you in a 4X4 is at least $500 each. But the country is beautiful and safe, just use your common sense.
My friend went to Tunisia and raved about it. He stayed in a resort that was milked you for your money but once he visited the country, he was amazed by how beautiful it was. Morocco is a little more traveled than Tunisia, but they both will become much more heavily visited in the next decade. This is the time to travel.

Morocco is incredible. Never been to Tunisia but have heard mixed reviews. For Westerners, Moroccans in general do everything they can to make you feel a warm welcome and, in general, they are very friendly.
There will definitely be a little culture shock as much of the country (outside of cities like Casablanca and Fes) is still pretty third world, but that comes with travelling. Keep your mind open and your sense of adventure fueled up and you won't be disappointed.

I dream of visiting Morocco one day... but right now I am too in love with Tunisia! The people are so friendly and they know how to have fun without alcohol, unlike in my country.

I am not Muslims, but I think that Moroccans should allow the films in Morocco to show their culture, but the film's companies should share their money with the people over there.

I have been virtualy visiting these two countries, from photosharing websites. I believe I would love to be there in persona to see details and enjoy myself.
