Why would you induce your own labor at 38 weeks? Why not just let nature take it's course for the time being?
There are things you can do to help kick start things along, like walking, eating hot spicy food, having sex, drinking raspberry tea etc but your body will do its own thing when the time is right, give it a chance.
But DO NOT attempt a full on self induction, by deliberately trying to rupture your own waters for example. I have treated women who have done this and have placed their lives and their babies lives at risk.
Your doctor or midwife can arrange for a professional induction when the time is right if you have not gone into labor on your own and are overdue - self administered inductions can be very dangerous for you and the baby.

I had my twins at 37 weeks and my third at 38 1/2 weeks. I gave birth at home and my midwife told me that its really normal to have the babies at that time. My kids were actaully very large at birth. My twins were 7lb 2oz and 7lb 6oz and my third was 8lb 7oz. This is why they probably came a bit sooner, cuz they were so big! Everything was just fine of course, 37 weeks is full term. Its best to be ready early. We had the birth tub set up at 34 weeks... though Ive always been one to take care of these things early. The only indication that I had of going earlier than usual was that I felt them moving less... things were getting cramped in there. I also did feel a heaviness that I didnt experience throughout the rest of the pregnancy. I think that was related. Well my kids are all wonderfully healthy, and birth went easy for all of them. 6 hours labor for my twins, 8 hours for my third.

Dont do anything to put yourself in labour,I know that your fed up,but that little baby inside you is nice and safe and will come when its ready, doing stupped things like taking castor oil and running up and down stairs will only make you get the runs and make you very tired, keep hold of that baby inside you as long as you can ,believe me when it comes it will be the best feeling in the world, but its not a bed of roses and you will be very very tired get all the rest you need now and dont be in such a rush, good luck and i hope every thing goes well,

Sex and exercise are the two best ways that you can promote labor. I had my first child at 38 weeks and my second at 37. I just walked a lot and had sex (make sure you orgasm). Plus, you aren't supposed to have sex for six weeks after delivery so you may as well get it while you can. Good luck!

i didn't induce my own labour deliberately but i found dancing around with the hoover brought it on at 38 weeks. i did have a long labour though, not sure if this was because it was brought on when it was'nt quite ready to happen or whether that was just what nature intended for me... just enjoy your last 2 weeks (if it does last that long) get loads of rest because you wont get any when baby arrives.
