Of course its the Yankees and Red Sox!! You here the buzz like a week or two before they play. When they meet eachother in the playoffs its even more intense. It also carries over to the offseason free agent market. Trying to keep players away from each other and comments being made by owners. Definatly a great rivalry!!

History will tell you that the Yankees - Red Sox is the biggest rivalry in baseball. But if you examine the rivalry you will find that it's not a rivalry at all. Rivalries are created when two teams pretty much take turns beating the hell out of each other. When you look at this rivalry you will find that the Yankees have feasted off the Red Sox for decades. With the exception of 2004 the Yankees have always bested the Red Sox at every level. To Yankees fans the Red Sox represent the proverbial bunching bag. We've enjoyed breaking the heart of Red Sox fans and look forward to doing it again this year.

Being both a Die hard Cub Fan and Red Sox fan I would have to say that Red Sox / yankees and Cubs / cards both are well known rivalries, I also live just out of Chicago and even though we are in different leagues the Northside/Southside thing is pretty intense!

The Dodgers and Giants have a great rivalry as does Pittsburgh and Philly[Though it has'nt met much the last 2 decades or so] but by far the greatest rivalry in baseball is Boston and New York.

Come to the Midwest, and it is Cubs vs. Cardinals. Not many here can give two squirts about the Yankees and Red Sox. Not putting that rivalry down, but it does not move many in the Chicagoland and St. Louis areas to turn on their televisions.

it is obviously the red sox vs. the yankees.
you have pitchers throwing pitches at batters,
fights that clear the dugout AND the bullpen with manager's and players getting hurt and/or suspended.
it couldn't get better.
i cant imagine how it would be like if they had to play each other in the world series (even thought that's impossible).

yeah you're right about redsox vs yankees. that is definitely the most heated rivalry in the entire nation. second goes to giants vs dodgers though.... im all about that rivalry because im a diehard giants fan. sf baby! but yeah the sox vs yanks.... that's the best.
