Hi I am totally confused. I am seven to eight weeks late for my period but all my test results are negative. I have all the symptoms sickness, nausea, my stomach is tight and I even have a stretch mark (not impressed with that). Anyway I went to the doctors assuming I wasn't because its been far to long for the tests to be coming back negative. However my doctor disagreed and said it sounds like I am pregnant. I am now having a urine test done by my doctor and awaiting the results. My question is how likely do you think it is that I am? I can't find anything on the net that says anything about this situation. I am totally confused and just want to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I was told I had to wait two days for urine results. I did question the sense in another urine results but he just said that it was there practise.
We where not planning for a baby this early we where hoping to start thinking about it next year. However I do still keep panicking its all in my head. I keep telling myself I am not so its easier to deal with but who knows what my subconsious is telling me!

I want to know why the doctor didn't do a blood test, if you have already taken negative urine tests? Blood tests are far more definitive.
And why are you "awaiting the results"? A urine test gives results in just a few minutes.
If a patient presented to me at the clinic with symptoms like this, 8 weeks overdue for her period, but returning negative urine tests, firstly I'd do a physical exam and then I would be getting out the ultrsound machine and having a good look for all sorts of things - especially the chance of the pregnancy being ectopic - and finally sending her to the pathology lab for a blood test.
A urine test, with these symptoms? And you have to wait for the results? PLEASE!!!!
I'd go see another doctor in the morning if I were you.
EDITED TO ADD: Saw your extra comments - see what the doc says about the urine test but even if it comes back negtive your situation warrants further and immediate investigation. No period for 8 weeks when intercourse has occured could mean nothing - but then again it could mean something and you do need to be exammined properly. The first thing I would do is a blood test as I said, and also an ultrasound - patients exhibiting symptoms of pregnancy but returning negative urine results could have ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cysts, PID... any number of things.
Like I said, on the other hand it could be nothing at all - maybe you are just stressed out - but if the test comes back negative please don't let the doctor fob you off with a "wait and see" attitude. If he won't exammine you find one who will.
I am just surprised at doing another urine test and then advising results will take 2 days to come back? Surely a blood test would have been more routine. In 22 years of midwifery and fertility nursing I have never seen a doctor give a pateint who has failed a number of urine tests ANOTHER urine test. Just do bloods. Get it out of the way. And in the meantime, give the patient an exam. Astonishing.

Like the previous person stated, you have all the sign of being pregnant. But there are some other facts to consider:
-The home tests might've been wrong, for which the doctor's urine test might be more accurrate. Yet, there are also blood tests, that can be done, if you agree with needles.
- Also, if you've hoping of getting pregnant for a while now, maybe the sympthoms you're experiencing are "mind- induced". Now, what's that? Well, there are some cases in which a woman, who has been hoping of getting pregnant for a long time starts experiencing the common sympthoms of pregnancy such as nausea, missing period, breast ache and growth, stretch marks, and even belly growth. Physically, they look pregnant, but all the results turn out to be negative. It sounds crazy, but it happens. It's a pathogenic condition.
Now, if that is your case, you should consult it with your doctor.
Anyway, if you're pregnant, congratulations!!

Ask your doctor to run a serum pregnancy test. There will be no question as to your condition! Blood tests are considerably more reliable and able to detect minut levels of HCG in your system. Also a pelvic exam would help in determining whether or not your pregnancy is intrauterine or ectopic.

the home pregancy tests actually test your HCG levels which is the pregnancy hormone. for some reason these may be low so the test ur doc has done will be more accurate however try takin a test wen you are due on your period, it may be different. if u r pregnant i hope its happy news!! im 8 wks n feel so over emotional!! anyway gud luk n take care!!xx

In home pregnancy tests are not fool proof and they can be wrong. The test your doctor is doing is far more accurate. I think the odds are you are pregnant you do have all the signs. Hope this is something you are happy about. Good luck.

The dr. should have done a blood test; that would be definitive. BTW, your stretch mark would not be from pregnancy this early - lol!

You have been to the doc...so why dont you just wait for the results instead of a bunch of people here who dont know you trying to magically guess if you are pregnant?
