There's always sport specific training in which you can partake. The sort of stamina needed for say a marathon would be vastly different than the sort of stamina you would need in a basktball game

In general, I'd suggest to emphasize cardiovascular training, find out your target heart rate and run/ride a bike/jump rope or whatever so that you can stay within your target heart rate for 30-45 minutes. This will ensure your body is able to provide enough oxygen to your muscles to perform at peak levels.

Also, work on weight training with low weight and high reps. Perform exercises in the 15-20 rep range. This will increase your muscle's ability to the demands of a grueling sport as well as your own resistance to lactic acid. (That builds up in your muscles when you work out)

Finally, there's something called carbo-loading. Your body primarily depends on carbohydrates for energy. If you eat a meal that is very high in carbohydrates the night before your event, you should have more fuel to burn the next day.

Good luck!
