Don't worry! As mothers, we worry over so much, especially when our children are babies. Rest assured though, he will not let himself starve and will let you know when he's ready to start consuming more. Listen for his cues. If after the 6oz bottle, he's happy and content, then great! If he's still fussy and acts hungry, then try giving him the extra 2 ounces.

If all else, you can always talk to his pediatrician about your concerns. But seriously, if he's doing ok in all other areas, then just relax and know that he'll let you know when he's ready for more.

Congrats on your new addition! :-)

My baby is 5 1/2 months old as well and only drinks about 6 to 1/2 ounces of milk. Sometimes a little less. I usually try to give a 6 1/2 ounce bottle to daycare and she never really finishes it. What are you concerned about? Because other people say your baby should be drinking more milk? It really depends on your child and his weight. Usually it's 2.5 times the weight. So my baby weight 15lbs 2 ounces so she should be drinking approximatley 38 ounces a day. With 6 feedings a day about 6 ounces everytime. So she's on track. How much does he weigh?

Yes that is fine as long as he drinks all of the bottle. Try not to feed him as much off a spoon and his amount of bottle should go up.

yeah that's normal.

My daughter is 9 1/2 months now and she can down 10w/ her eyes closed - but at that age she was hitting 6 and that was plenty.

Your baby will let you know when she is ready to consume more formula. When she is sucking it down and wants more then give her more. If she isnt finishing 6 oz then that is all she wants for now.
