What makes you think anyone wants to read your brand of wisdom or humor? It would be more appropriate to write real estate ads. at least you would get paid for those.

well ur promoting it now aren't you! Why not ring up your local paper and see if they want to do an artical on your book and offer a few copies as prizes to some competition in the paper, comps draw in readers to the paper so the paper would like that idea and you get it read by at least the winners and if they like it word can spread, jk didn't go megastar in a day! Create a website about it and get the site that got u published to link to it and you link back to them so they'll have more custummers soon, tell everyone about it, do a book signing in a townhall or local bookshop all those are good teqniques.

Tony:
Book signings is the only way a self published author can sell their books. The internet, Barnes and Noble, Amazon and others have sold not one of my books in three years. If you wish my help with this, send me an email at barwaynerus@yahoo.com I charge nothing just try to help other writers. Do not pay for advertising that the self publishers recommend. Very costly and does not sell your books.

This book is not ready for publication. I went and looked at your preview. It looks horrible. It is not formatted correctly, and with just a brief glance I noticed several typos, grammatical errors, and run-on sentences.
I am going to tell you the same thing I tell a lot of would-be writers who decide to self-publish. Go over to your bookshelf. Pull a book off of it and flip through it. Grab another one. Flip through it. Repeat about a half dozen times. Does your book look like these professionally done books? The answer is obviously "no." And frankly, if you are not striving to produce a professional book, you have no business publishing.
Self-publishing is not a short cut to getting your work in print. As a self-publisher, you are responsible for all aspects of the work. From proofreading to copyediting to layout and cover art to marketing.
You have an obligation as a writer to present your best work to the reader. The reader is not obligated to give you the benefit of the doubt just because you want to see your name in print.

A couple of thoughts:
- If you have independent local bookstores in your area, you can ask them to carry your book on consignment. You could also offer to do an in-store event (signing, reading, etc.). I have read about self published authors who have done well visiting bookstores and making these arrangements.
- If your book would appeal to a certain group, consider giving free copies to those in that group who can generate some buzz for you.
Good luck!

depressing to declare, yet Bardsandsages makes a super sort of sturdy factors. That mentioned, in case you have already long previous down that direction, you're able to make the better of it. you would be able to locate your close by papers, television and radio have an interest, because of the charity perspective. See in case you will get the charity to make the concepts-set rather of you. Write an announcement for them, emphasising the reality which you're a close-by, too (point out any long-status links to the section, e.g. in the adventure that your loved ones is going lower back years). in any different case, connect on line boards on matters proper on your e book and sell there. do no longer only hop on and unsolicited mail - participate totally, and point out your e book judiciously. you would be able to additionally initiate a MySpace and/or facebook website. Get a pile of books revealed off and hawk them around your close by bookstores, and sell them at automobile boot sales and markets. lower back, verify you sell the charity perspective. Marisa
