Right on the Internet. You can surf around and look at job offerings and apartment listings from the comfort of your own living room.
That said, do NOT agree to anything without seeing it firsthand. But you can still do a lot of homework to figure out what jobs are available, what going rents ranges are like, etc.

Why would you want to move, of all places, to TEXAS? First you have to have an idea of where in TEXAS you would want to be. TEXAS is a like a different country. You have the plains in north TEXAS, the Hill Country in Central TEXAS and the almost desert down where I call home in South TEXAS. Are you sure that you are going to like the people in TEXAS? We are a pretty tough living, bragging, redneck bunch. We like Lone Star beer, pickup trucks, bucking bulls and saturday nights at the dance hall. Now if you can put up with those kind of people, you are looking at the finest piece of earth that the man above created. To quote the first president of TEXAS, Mr. Sam Houston, Texas can live without the united states, but the united states can not live without TEXAS. Come on down ! Oh yes, I have picked up and moved to other states. I have even picked up and moved to other countries. Right now I am writing this from South Korea where I work as an Electrical Engineer. Go for it......

Yes. My husband died and I couldn't stay where we lived. My three kids and I packed up and moved to another state. Look at the town's website, jobs, housing, schools, median income, etc. Pick a place and then apply for jobs, look for apartments. It can be done. It isn't easy, but people do it all the time.

Yes I have. After the split of my marriage I packed a uhaul truck and moved 3,000 miles from New York to California. Of course I was born and raised here in California but It was just me and the dogs in that truck for three days.

Try the local community wesites for the city that you plan to relocate to. There are usually ads for jobs and places to rent.
