Hi, I have been trying to find a book which my children loved having read to them in the 70's. we must have accidently thrown it out during a house move, and searches have drawn a blank.
Think it may be called 'the garden gang' or similar (not the one about vegetables!)
It was about a group of children living in a deprived city in America (I think), and they found some wasteland and started to make their own secret garden, which they cultivated and grew vegetables in, which they eventually shared with the community.
I can't remember the author, and searches only seem to come up with adventurous vegetables!
Any ideas please?

Oh my god! This is gonna kill me now! I know that story so well but I am sorry to say I can't for the life of me remember what it's called! I'm sorry to waist space like this but I just had to let you know that I won't be able to sleep until it comes to me, lol!
Good luck!
