My daughter is a college student, and recently applied for a part-time job in a Washington, DC retail store. They told her they need to do a credit report before they hire her. She has worked retail before and has excellent recommendations.
I was in retail for over 10 1/2 years for a well known retail co. and we never did a credit score check on hiring an employee.
I've never heard of this before?

Welcome to the 21st century

Someone with a poor credit rating, with a LOAD of debt, might be a candidate for company theft - or - lightening the cash
drawer before turning it in.

Or they might work their tail off to make ends meet.

It's a factor that must be considered.
