I write a lot of books ( none published yet :-( ) I'd like to write a short-ish romance novel, but I do need a good opening how can the man and woman bump into each other?
In books such as Janet Evanovich's Manhunt and Smitten they meet unexpectedly, on holiday or through a new job, but I want something unique.
The person who comes up with the best opening will obviously get 10 points PLUS their name written in the book. That also obviously means I need your first name.

The girl drops her bracelet (or something of hers) and the guy finds picks it up, tries to find her? Just a random idea.

They could both be passing through a town that is being taken over by aliens and all the people are zombie creatures and when they happen to run into each other at the laundromat and discover that they're the only two people in town that haven't become zombies yet they hook up to try to escape the zombie police and, well....it's true love.

I don't see how having my name in a book that will never be published is a big motivation. Asking others to give you ideas about how to open your book means (to me) that you really haven't thought out your plot yet. You need to think through your plot and how you want to handle character development. From there, you should be able to determine how to open the story.

A blind date? You set me up on a blind date? Haven't you ever heard of the train wreck disasters that are blind dates? Haven't you ever seen the show? Friday night? OK. I have nothing else to do.

Maybe as astronauts? I heard something along that line happened in the U>S> this week.so it would be topical! "Their eyes met as they floated weightlessly and helplessly towards each other"
Underwater diving? They could meet as a shark decides which one to eat."Should I eat the one in black wetsuit or pink wetsuit?"
A Speed Dating Service. "As they left each other after a fascinating 3 minutes, he wondered if he would ever get that rush of affinity with another human being again".

While coming out of the warmth of their hometown church, it had started to rain. Having watched her exit just before him, he popped open his umbrella and dashed up to her and protected her from the rain, asking... "May I be the gentleman who walks you to your car under the umbrella?"
She glanced at the gentleman... instantly feeling relief from the rain... his familiar face from church... his nice smile and heartfelt sincerity to offer help to a damsel in distress [without her jacket or umbrella]... "Bless you" she said...
