Are we fighting a loosing battle?

Question

Global warming seems to be in everyones minds now so why do so very few ever state the real cause?
Too many people on this planer. There are three times the number oof people that can be suported by this planet for a long period of time.
.....Why don't people do something about that?

Burning brightly, you have no idea what is going on around this planet. Wars and such never have reduced the population. They actually increase tha population. learn something

To answer your questions one by one:

1. Because government is not about to take responsibility for the problem due to, as far as I can see, two main reasons:
(a) The American president and most of his cronies are there because of a whole heap of dollars donated to them by big business and in particular oil and energy companies;
(b) to actively do something would mean a huge interruption to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Citizen's lifestyle. As a consequence, the government representatives ain't gunna throw away their offices for a chance to save the environment. It's gunna take a radical change and I seriously doubt that we're willing to go there. Easier to blame the govt. and say it's their fault!

2. I agree. There are WAAAY too many people here. You asked "why don't PEOPLE do something about that?" Take personal responsibility as I have done. I realised that there were too many humans about 20 years ago and decided that I was NOT going to put another consumer on the earth - in other words, because of the state of the world, I've decided to forego the joys of fatherhood. That's my tiny contribution, but it's the only thing I can do for that section of the problem.

3. As far as other personally responsive things - I'm Vegetarian, I eat organic products where I can, I use energy saving light globes, I don't drive a car (pushbike and buses for this little black duck) and I try to encourage others to follow my lead. It's as much as I can do and there's a whole lot more that I COULD do, but at least I'm thinking about MY contribution!
