It is probably because the image sourced on to the page doesn't exist anymore. Perhaps it just has not loaded properly, or your browser has turned them off.

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer
Go to tools->internet options click on the advanced tab, scroll down and you will see a section called multimedia. in that make sure that the check box in front of "show pictures" is clicked
