1 km = 1000 m. 1 hour = 3600 seconds. You have to use the Unit Factor method. Km to m and h to s.

1019.6 km/hr * 1000m/1km(cancel unwanted units (km)) = 1019600 m/hr * 1hr/3600s(cancel hours) = 283.222 m/s.

try multiplying it with 1000/3600= 10/36 = 5/18.

The logic is 1 km = 1000 m
1 hr = 3600 s.

The rest you figure...

You do this by

multiplying by 1000 to convert to m/h
then divide by 3600 to convert this to m/s

(1000 metres in a kilometre
and 3600 seconds in an hour)

Simply: Divide km/h by 3.6 to get m/s!!!
Therefore: 1019.5 km/h : 3.6 = 283.19444... m/s
