Most schools of thought now agree, it is most likely that Khufu is the Pharaoh who was responsible for the construction of the Sphinx.
This would mean it is around 4,350 yrs old.
As it lies in a quarry used to obtain the core of masonry for Khufu's pyramid. Work on it could not have begun earlier.
Recently, Vasil Dobrev suggested that it may have been built as a filial guesture to Khufu by Djedefre.
But this would not make a significant alteration to its age or dating, as Djedefre was the son of Khufu and only ruled for 8yrs.
Theories that it is older, and was built sometime between 7.000 and 5.000B.C, are not supported by any archaeological and or historical evidence.

They predate the great flood and when civilisation re emerged some 5000 years later, they got "used" by that civilisation the egyptians. They did not build them as they were already there and were never used as burial chambers, the walls were adorned with their artwork and the head of the sphinx was reformed into the kings head making the head far too small for the body. The design of the chambers suggests it was a giant battery as traces of zinc and acid have been found, a pre history power station.

there is no definitive answer to this question as no one is precisely sure who carved the sphinx. It is commonly thought it was carved during the reign of Chephren the owner of the second largest pyramids on the Giza plateau, this was around 2500 BC some however think it was made for Khufu the builder of the oldest and largest pyramid on the plateau around 2550 BC. and some think its even older. No one truly knows.it is certainly at least 4500 years old
