The ex shouldn't be able to get any of the SSI. (If it were SSDI, they might be able to, however.) SSI is means tested, which means it is based on household assets and income. It's for those who didn't work long enough before becoming disabled. SSDI is for those who are disabled and who worked long enough under the Social Security system to earn benefits.

Since SSI is based on assets and household income, it is possible that the amount you get from SSI would change once you are divorced, since you would no longer have your ex's income and assets as part of your household.

Talk to your local Social Security office to see if it would increase the amount you get once he moves out and you get divorced..

I don't know about that but say you been divorced for twenty years and your ex dies if you did not get remarried you can get their ssi along with yours

No the ex cant take your SSI.
