You are not shutting it off..you are pushing the restart button

sometimes a progrem will issue a command that causes your computer to restart.. if you see that it is going thru the shutdown process, this is most likely teh case.
If it just instantly restarts, then you may want to look into your hardware possibly conflicting (usually overclocking your RAM will cause this).
You should probably check your system log which can be found in control panel, administrative tools, and then event viewer.. check out the log around the time that your computer restarted.. usually there will be an error log that can lead you in the right direction.. good luck!

some viruses causes the same effect. try scanning your computer. try this; click "start" select "run" then type " shutdown -a " then press enter. restart your computer.

What do you mean restarting. Do you mean it is switched off and then suddenly boots up or do you mean you are using it and it suddenly shuts down and reboots?
