I'm gay and recently met this guy off the internet and went on a date really hit it off. He is totally my type and I am totally his type. We had a deep long covnersation and have a lot in common. We've been talking a lot on yahoo messanger for the last month and really got to know a lot about each other. However, recently he told me that there is something he has to get off his chest. He told me that he is not really (25), but 29. He said he told me he was 25 because he was interested in my profile, which says I'll only date guys from 18 - 25 because I am only 20 my self. Anyway, we both haven't done anything and we're not in a relationship yet, however he said he DID feel angry because I put up another ad looking for someone. He said he knows I'm not really doing anything wrong because we're not officially in a relationship, but just dating. He told me that he'd like it if I took the ad down. I want to keep in contact with him and everything because I truly like him and stuff..

However, I’m curious as to whether there might be someone closer to my age out there and also something in common with me, especially since he lied to me and is kind of far from my age. He was so sweet though and said it was just because he likes me. So, I don’t want to ruin this with him because I have never went on a date I enjoyed. He’s the first date I’ve really found that I enjoy and am attracted to. However, even though he said there would be no more lies, and he’s kind of far away from my age, I still want to keep the ad up just until we get into a serious relationship to see if there’s someone better for me. He said he said he doesn’t want me to put anymore ads up and I think he really wants us to hit it off. What do you all think? You know how hard it is to find that right person especially when ur gay.

I always thought that age would be a big factor in determining who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Boy was I surprised at myself when I fell in love with a guy that is 9 years older than I am. We've been together for about 3 years now, and I can't imagine being with anyone younger. I don't even have the desire to look or post up ads, because I love him. I used to have the 3 - 5 years around my age standard.

Knowing what I know now about feelings, I say if this guy makes you happy, then go with the flow and see what develops. I say go ahead and take down the posting. If you realize your relationship with him is not going to work out, you can always post your ad back up.

Persue any person that makes you happy regardless of your original "standards".

You have to respect him in order for him to respect you. What if you start a relationship with this person and afterwords still find someone who you think is better than him. You won't be able to have a pure relationship cous there will always be a voice at the back of your head telling you there might be someone better. Live for now/today. Give everything. That way you will get to know more about this person and really know weather he is made for you. If you find out you aren't ment to be, then you can start giveing attention to somone els. Sounds like you want to keep a back door open, for just in case you aren't happy, this isnt fair to the other person. either become just friends or give it your all.

Wow that is a bit of a tricky situation. All I can think off is that if you like him that much then maybe you should go on a few more dates and then decide if he is too old for you.
Sorry I can't help more
good luck!

Did you have to tell him you were still looking? Just keep it to yourself next time. Until your more serious you don't have to stay off the market.

Dude...you answered your own question using at least 1,000 words. If you like him, date him. Your age difference seems irrelevant.
