This is how most of my friendships come to be: I am romantically interested in someone, but for some reason it won't work out, so I do the next best thing and befriend them.

Just watch out and don't get yourself hurt: don't let yourself believe it's definitely going somewhere, when she's just glad to have another buddy.

Suppose you were friends with one person who was already partnered in a straight relationship. If you liked one of them, (the same feelings you have for the stud you talked about), would you ask them out ?

Treat the lesbian couple with the same respect as you would treat a straight couple. And treat an ongoing relationship between lesbians as a marriage - if the women feel strongly about it. They don't have the legal ability to marry, but they may feel that the bond is strong enough for marriage. They may even treat themselves like they are married.

If you want to get to know the stud more, go out on a double date. You can get to know BOTH of the lesbians better. Since it is only "for friendship", double dating shouldn't be a problem.

If you ask her out, and she says NO, it doesn't mean that she doesn't like you as a person. She has rejected ALL MEN in her actions of being a lesbian. This is what she wants - so don't try to take it away and change her.

I've been through this, and almost lost the friendship totally. I acted like an a**. Luckily, she knew I didn't mean anything mean-spirited, and we remain friends. That is all we can ever be under these circumstances.
But I am very happy with that.

You don't want to lose her completely. Show respect to her, her partner, and her relationship. Then, and only then, can a friendship flourish.

No you do not ask someone out who is already involved in a relationship with someone else!

You respect others and their relationships it doesn't matter if she is a stud or not, you need to have more morals and standards then that for yourself!

If you were her partner would you appreciate some one like you asking her out?

You know your motives are for more then a friendly visit because you have already state such.
So by doing so you are being dis honest and acting much like a cheat is that what you want to be seen as?

Good grief, this is the 3 question i've seen asking this kind of thing. Why can stud's date stud's, tomboys? Why does the styreotype even exist? It's so silly. Lesbians are lesbians to date women. the end. Why does it matter if its a stud/butch dating another stud/butch. A tomboy/soft butch dating another tomboy/soft butch? Date whoever the H*LL you want, and dont worry about anything else. Geez....

No cause as you said your only asking for a friendly date, no attachments. So go for it! Just remember the person who you want to go on a date with is taken.

its every man/woman for themselves is what i say....if this chicks gf cant hold on to her, then thats her problem...why shouldnt you be happy just because of the gf....if you like her then go for it and ask....going to a movie doesnt necessarily mean anything and doing that more than once will let you get to know her and who knows maybe you can get that gf out of the picture and get your stud all to yourself
