Rap culture does nothing but destroy people and institutions. Look at Chrysler, for example. http://www.dispatch.com/business-story.php?story=dispatch/2007/02/17/20070217-C8-02.html

The beginning of the end was when the once-respected Chrysler Chief Lee Iacocca appeared in a television spot with "Snoop Dogg" (a well known rap persona, criminal gang member and drug addict). http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/05/news/newsmakers/Iacocca_snoop/

The spot includes Iacocca and Snoop Dogg, whose hip-hop speaking manner in the spot seems to confuse Iacocca.

"You know, I'm not too sure what you just said. Now everybody gets a great deal," Iacocca says in the spot.

"Fo shizzle, I-ka-zizzle," Snoop Dog replies.

I don't think the thug culture is to blame in that situation. Chrysler is, since they put aside their values as a company to make money. Greed is decimating America more than anything. I don't personally like rap music or appreciate the thug culture that is growing in this country, but I don't think it is to blame for the decimation of America. The white kids, whose daddy is a lawyer and drive around listening to gangster rap and wear grills are to blame. This country is a melting pot of cultures, and each should be respected. I think there is a line that should be drawn however, when it comes to half the country taking up a culture because that is where the money and attention are. I could go on about this all day, but bottom line, blame Chrysler for selling out for a profit!

In answering or posting a question one must not be biased. I can agree that most rappers do not have positive subjects in their songs despite the vulgarity and excessive usage of the n**** word there are rappers with positive things to say. For example Nas raps about many political issues and world peace which later caused him to cease his feud with rapper Jay-Z, Lyfe Jennings also has a song directed towards abstinence. Rap music is not the only music with negative influences. Rock for example, Charles Manson's cult was influenced by the Beatles song Healther Skelter. Needless to say that had a huge impact on society. The MEDIA can have an impact on society but when will Americans take responsibility for their own actions. Just because the temptation's there it doesn't mean you have to accept it. The question is when will people rise above the influence?

Yeah, rap music is destroying the fibre of the American nation.....just like Rock 'n' roll did back in the 50's.
Remember Chicken Little said "The sky is falling down"...well nothing never came of it. The world still spins around.

Oddly enough, America's Hip-Hop sub-culture sells products. Doesn't make sense to me either, but it's a trend and one I hope is short lived. I liked rap when it was fun, today it's so negative.

It is made up whatever you want to call it.......I can't stand that kind of music, if you want to call it music...... :p (ugh) somewhat poetry set to loud speaker thumping, yeah music, sure......Not!!!!
