The recent ruling of India's Supreme Court that a male committing adultery does not commit a crime and hence cannot be prosecuted raises a host of disconcerting questions. Why should a n unscrupulous person be permitted to commit adultery with somebody's wife and get away scot free.. His actions will destroy the family affected, not only the woman. The woman involved is an integral part of a family. Her seduction by such a rogue will destroy the very foundations of the family. The husband of such a wife, the children the grandparents - they will all have to bear the burden of social stigma. Sex ioutside marriage is accepted in the west. In India, it is held to be sacred. Adultery, in any form . will not be accepted byIndian Society, whatever be the law to 'legalise' it..

adultery is wrong and even sin in religious perspective. but by punishing the person commiting adultery u will not find any development in the society. It is only by giving the sex education, u can avoid these kinda of problems. though adultery is wrong and ruining families the reasons behind it may be acceptable(sometimes). It is a issue that is to be dealt with wide extensive focus on everything.

It is a good ruling as long as it is also true for a woman. If only women should be punished for adultery and men not, then it is not fair. If the act of adultery is not a crime for both, men and women, then it is fair. A law is not about setting cultural values. A law is about being fair.

I think it should be against the law! Man or woman, it does not matter! men do it til they get caught, shrug their shoulders and move on to the next victim! An adulterer is scum, pure and simple, and should be branded as such! So people can see the mark of it and stay clear of them! There would be far less adulterer's if they would be marked ( branded ). Because they could not go from person to person, like a dog in heat!!!!!!!

Adultery is not a crime in any other civilised society. Further even in India, even though woman is willing partner in the activity, she is not considered accountable even under the present law.

strangely enough...if someone stole food from the same people because of a 'human need to eat' ...the theif would be prosecuted. and yet, stealing a bit of food doesnt have life long effects such as adultery. divorce is the one form of legal retribution or recourse for adultery. paying spousal support, child support and splitting assests....<<

it does not have to be against the law to be wrong.

i do not want the government to have control of my genitals.

now all indian men will have to start treating their wives better so that they will not be seduced by rogues.

sex outside marriage is not accepted in the west, sir. it is not illegal, but is definitely not accepted. well, maybe in france...

adultery is a sin against god, against the family, and against your marriage.

the government should not have a say in such private matters.

So what else is new? There has always been a double standard. That is why women are better at hiding it than men.
