Tons of it. I guess in writing this list it is hard to separate the introspection from the observation. Many musicians have felt that if they express what they know in their own souls to be true, it will connect with others and make the world a better place. So a lot of this is like "WTF?" as well as "What do I feel?"

Try Garth Brooks, a lot of his. The River, The Change, Standing Outside the Fire.

U2 Joshua Tree and a lot of others

Counting Crows, many as well.

John Mayer does some great stuff...waiting on the world to change.

Michael Jackson Man in the Mirror

Temptations...Papa was a rolling stone, Ball of confusion

Doors...they were cheating though, I don't think it was really their souls they were exploring as much as the back of their eyeballs. Still good music but way too trippy to be philosophical.

Poi Dog Pondering has a lot of meaning of life songs on their first album, as well as Wishing Like A Mountain

Loves the Only House...Martina McBride

What's Going On...Marvin Gaye

The Wall by Pink Floyd is allll very thought provoking

By the Grace of God...Keith Urban

Mr. Wendel ...Arrested Development

I'm not a Nirvana fan but their stuff was very introspective.

A lot of soul searching eras and genres in music: folk, rap, civil rights era, hymns and other sacred music.

The Beatles

Prince...is a genius. A dirty minded genius but he sure does go to the soul searching places.

The music of Yes is very ethereal...spiritual.

James Taylor is another favorite of mine. Shed a Little Light, Secret O Life, many many many others.

Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck did an old gospel song called People Get Ready. Can't get any more soul searching than that.

Stones...can't always get what you want....waiting on a friend...satisfaction
