I read a statistic once that the average person swallows 10 spiders in their sleep during their lifetime. I did see a home video on 'You've been Framed' of a guy sleeping, mouth open, and suddenly a spider crawls out of his mouth. Ewwww. Has anyone ever woken up with a wee beastie in their mouth?

I thought it was an urban myth UNTIL ... a few nights ago I woke up, lying on my back, and a spider had lowered itself from the ceiling above my face. It was about 3 inches above me, I reckon in a few more seconds it would have been in my mouth. I've not moved so fast for years!

So, maybe it's not an urban myth after all ...

A spider told me once that most of the time they don't get swallowed by humans they just go into your mouth to go see weather there is a midnight snack in there, like a little piece of food still stuck between your teeth. they do this very quickly aware of the danger of being swallowed, so yes it does happen but not often at all.

I have heard this before, I hope to god its not true. I am your classic arachnophobia, and if I thought a spider had crawled in my mouth in my sleep I would be inconsolable.I have however woken in the morning with what looks like a spider bite. It may well be true we do.
YUK.... Im off to clean my teeth.

This is another good old urban myth. House Spiders prefer dry areas, thats why there are always cobwebs in the roof spaces.
