The important part of marriage, is being with your best friend-your partner. Sex is a benefit. Sometimes, yes, couples do separate due to lack of sex in the relationship. The Bible talks of how once we are married, our bodies are not our own anymore. The husband's body belongs to the wife, and the wife's body to the husband. But, if it is an agreed upon part of the marriage, to not have sex, or at least, not very often, then that's up to the couple.

No sex is not the most important thing in life after marriage. Yes couples do seperate because of lack of sex, but some couples stay together. I know a lady who married a man that was 20 or 30 years her senior. He's been in a wheelchair now for years, but she still loves him dearly. Can you imagine not being able to sleep with your husband or wife for 10-20 years? But she has stayed by his side and never once cheated, because she loves him. There is more to love than sex.

I fell like sex is the frosting on the cake of life.

What is the real problem? Who is it that is sex negative? Is it you or your partner? Sex is great so who ever is sex negative must have been warped in some way. Some people get warped and don't even know they are. They averse to sex, and think that is the norm. Instead of great pleasure they are repulsed by the mere thought of sex.

Withing a marriage, sex is of primary import. Sex is forbidden outside of marriage, therefore sex within marriage is primary. You can have a meal with someone not your mate, and nobody thinks a thing. Have sex with someone not your spouse and the whole world wants to stone you to death (and they still will in some parts of the world). Does that strike you as significant? Damn right sex is extremely important after you are married.

Happiness is the most important thing in life at any point. Sex is just one aspect of life and of marriage. More than often it's not about the sex but about the lack of intimacy. People split up for so many different reasons, lack of sex probably isn't a major one. Usually it's a consequence of lack of sex, like one partner cheating or something like that.

Sex definitely slows down after you've been married for a while. A lot of my friends complain that either they or their husbands have a higher sex drive than their partner, meaning they want it more often than their partner. I've never had that problem...the only problem my husband and I have is finding the time and privacy to have sex. A lot of the time we'll have a quickie while the kids' favorite tv show is on...the lock on our bedroom door gets a lot of use ;-)

One nice thing about married sex is that after a while you learn exactly what each other likes, so even if you're not having sex as often as you did when you first got together, the sex you do have is much better.

I don't think it is the most important thing, but I can see how lack of sex could be an issue. Sex provides an intimacy that is like no other. To not be able to have that intimacy would probably be a great strain on the relationship. It is probably indicative, as well, that there is more going on than just a desire to not have sex.

Sex only becomes important to people after marriage because it is the focus for most new relationship at least in the beginning. We put to much focus on sex in this society I think.

We know little about true intimacy is why we have relationship falling apart so easily. In the end sex is the weakest bond outside of procreation in the grand scheme of things.

On your death bed I doubt if you would be thinking about that girl you had hot sex with for one hot weekend or when someone ask you who had the biggest impact in your life you won't be thinking about sex.

Sex isn't the most important thing in life after marriage but its vital to have sex to make the marriage work. Besides sex, there is a need to stay communicated, financial know-how, care, love and concern. Statistically, marriage broke down's number 1 reason is financial.

Sex IS the most important thing in life!
Unless you have two people that both dislike sex, equally, then the marriage is doomed.

Sex is how we identify our value to, and acceptance by, others. Without a sexual connection we are just another someone that no one wants to have sex with.
