i was wondering if it is ever too late to learn ballet. All of my friends who currently dance have started when they were 4 and 5 and I know most ballet dancers start around then as well. Im not COMPLETELY new to dance. I took jazz dance for around a year and im not as stiff as a board either. Would it be impossible to reach the level they're at, and still keep school in focus, if i started now? (im 14..)

Fourteen is a good time to begin studying ballet. Remember, the word "ballet" means balance. It's a strenuous art about balance of the body and spirit just like, say, Kung Fu or Tai Chi. Old people begin ballet lessons every day. Enjoy.

You will need time, a good teacher, and a lot of work over and above any talent that you have. BTW 14 is way too late to start ballet with the expectation of becoming a professional dancer....Good Luck.

Anyone can learn to dance at any age! That's the joy of it! I'm 13 and i just started ballet. I found out that the other girls and boy in the class are a little bit better than me. But, I'm learning. You can probably learn too. Go to a studio and ask to sit in on a class and see if you like it.

**HAVE FUN**

There are no age limits in ballet. I started when i was 3 and my friend started at 15. The only thing she really needs to work on is strength and memorization of words (french words lol) Go ahead and start ballet, and they will tell you what you need to work on. GOOD LUCK :)

you can start ballet lessons but you will never reach the level of performance your friends have. if you would have started earlier your body would have devellopped in a way to suit this sport. now it is close to its final shape and there will be things you won't be able to do, especially if you want to 'keep school in focus'. You can try it for fun, but there are little chances to reach a top level.

I think, it isn't too late, 14 - is a very good age. You quite understand what you want, I think if you want it, you'll do everything to reach it, won't you?:) and more of all you say you're not new to dance.
If one wants something eagerly, he puts all his heart into it... so it's in your power to get it, good luck!

~ mafiagirl114... It's a matter of coordination, bones and muscles

~ It's a matter of determination... MANY STARTED LATE IN LIFE, AND SUCCEEDED, because of perseverence...
Give it everything you can... IF this is what you want to do!

~ You are BLESSED that you know what you want to do at the age of 14, mafiagirl114...

There are SOOOoooo many that DO NOT know what they want... even at 40, 50, 60!

Let the Lord guide your steps, mafiagirl114... ask Him to give you confirmation...
