Will Hindi Movies be better if they did not have any songs?

Question

What is this with Hindi movie & songs? Does anyone really enjoy them? The actors burst into song at a drop of a hat. It spoils the rhythm of the movie. Will they ever change ?

Very good question. As someone pointed out, BLACK did very well without any songs. It depends on the story and the director. But the main problem is our cinema crazy population. They want songs for entertainment, however crude and crass it may be. So to please the general public and get money for thier films, the producers introduce songs at the drop of a hat. Its a vicious cycle. Only the brave people who created BLACK can take a chance and stop the running around trees songs. Songs are good, if they convey the right feelings at the right time. Not to kill time or prolong the movie and feed the basic instincts of the front benchers.

there will be some difference in our point of view . you see, if you analise all hindi songs you got that most of them became famous only for there songs but some of them had good storis. now our indians dont like to think (don't mind),they just take the amusement for them,so if we think in this way then we got that every hindi movie must have some songs.
now, song is our culture,so we must not expect a hindi movie without a song.
so i can say that a hindi movie will not be better if they didn't have any song.

The songs are a trdemark of any particular films. Without any songs, it's like going with the saying "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". So, I say that the songs provide relief from the plot of the film. And also, if they are timed well, then it would be excellent. And the film Black doesn't look like it needed any song.

If Hindi movie is without music,it will be like an Asian movie without Jackie Chan !!! Sun without its light Diamond without its glow!!!Music is the soul of Hindi movies(Indian movies)!We cant imagine sitting for an Indian film for three hours without music(especially rahman music)!!!But the question you asked is interesting to answer!

well you see music is the essence of indian movies.you cant really think of indian movies without songs.it has got many plus points
1,producer releases music before the movie.if the music becomes hit then it become easy for movie to get the money out.
2,producers make money by selling cd's and all
3,in india dance is also quiet common.so if they dont add songs then how will they show dance sequences
4,sometimes the story progress through songs,.
5, music or songs(if melodious) doubles the entertainment.
overall its good to have songs in our movies.afterall actors running around tress is the logo in bolly wood.isnt it?and above that if there is no music.if we start ommiting songs from movies then you please start arranging the stay for those music directors,singers,lyricist,choreographers in your house.

When we watch a movie on DVD we always Fast Forward/Skip the songs.

However to become best Hindi movie needs to shed lot many things.
